I have just launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance prints of my latest works.
There are postcards, mini notecards in a cool booklet, that you can even colour yourself if you want. And limited edition posters

Snail Beastie by dragonladych

If I reach my goal and beyond there will be stretch goals added, but for now I just hope to reach this first goal.

EDIT: works better with the link indeed!
  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt?
    Since September 2005

  2. What does your username mean?
I've been drawing Dragons since I was 15, all my English speaking friends call me Dragonlady. The CH is the abbreviation for "Confoederatio Helvetica" = Switzerland, because that nickname is often already taken

  3. Describe yourself in three words.
    Passionate, Introverted, Dedicated

  4. Are you left or right handed?
    Right

  5. What was your first deviation?
    snow cat by dragonladych

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create?
Anything that tells a story. But I recently started wondering if the stories are not too hidden and trying to make them more visible. though in the end it's up to each person to tell their own story

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Oil painting. It's not that different from acrylics, but it's still daunting to me.

  8. What was your first favourite?
The Music: Aule and Yavanna by elegaer
:iconelegaer: is the one who convinced me to join dA!

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Whimsical things, and quirky. Anything with a poetic element.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
    I don't necessarily have a favourite.
People like :iconursulav: :iconemmalazauski: :iconellygator: :iconbluefooted: :iconleppu: and most of the people who's work I :+fav:ed over the years

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
I actually met several. But if I could teleport myself to the other end of the world :iconskiesofchaos: and :iconinkibus: (and her family)

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Not necessarily my life as such, but the feedback here has helped me a lot. Shame that people mostly stopped commenting nowadays

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art?
Ballpoint (BIC is the best) and anything that I can slap on paper

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
    My studio

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
Getting a DD long ago for this piece:

Well, I have a lot to learn about video. For a start I don't know why the image isn't filling the frame, when I filmed in horizontal format. But anyway I filmed a few time lapse videos while painting that beastie and put it up on youtube :

Or pay what you like, if it's not gone by next week I'll probably recycle the wood plank :)

This is an experiment. I don't often sell originals as it's very expensive to organise art shows, in the end there is no profit to be made in them, unless you can maybe do it full time.

So I've decided to offer some originals for sale, and it's up to you to decide how much you want to pay. More information about this on my website: www.goupil.ch/originals.html

Among other things you'll find the following pieces for sale:

Pre-order now, and help a great cause

Facebook l Blogger l Art book l Spreadshirt l Flickr

Everything is explained in my blog: dragonladych.blogspot.ch/2012/…

In short you can now pre-order my new book! It's a funny little story for small children (or grown ups who like such things) loosely inspired by a poem by the great R. Tagore.
I will email you an English translation of the story should you require one.

The proceedings will go to a place that houses local youths who had a bad start in life. It will serve to finance one of their trips, each trip gives them a broader look on life and some solid background for later.

Go to the link above to find out more. And thanks for your help!

Covert art and other projects

As I said in my latest blog post: dragonladych.blogspot.ch/ this was a bit of a "gap year", I've done things but by far not enough. Real life, jobs or lack of thereof etc got in the way.

But I did work, I'm halfway done with a new children's book, another charity project. I'll be posting more about it soon. You can already find out more on my blog.

I've had another dA account for five years now, for my children illustrations :icongoupilch: but I neglected it for a while. I wondered if I should also post these here, but I think it's best to keep things separated, I already have a mish mash of things here, photos, jewellery, etc.

On the other hand I already have way too many places to update, blogs, in English and French, and so on, having two dA accounts sounds like a bad idea. I shall ponder this. :)

Meanwhile I've done this book cover a few days ago, for Atomic Fez

Art book

As you may have noticed, I've spent the past year working on my first art book. It will probably by out early next year. Self-published on blurb.com

Of course I want it to be a nice object, and I want it to be as good as it can be. So I've hired people to help me. A proof reader and a graphic designer. And there will be other expenses. Mostly buying some of my own books to show at festivals etc...

But I am aware that I will never be able to cover these expenses, let alone earn a thing. The latter is fine, I just want this to be out there, but as for the former I would like to ask you if you can help.

Depending on what formula you choose this will also give you the chance to get something nice in return, for instance the opportunity to get signed copies of the book which will be much harder to do later since it's a print on demand service.

There will also be a chance to win prizes, as the end of the campaign will be a big contest. More details as we go.

Contest

I have entered a photo contest. The subject was music so I submitted this photo that you might have seen in my gallery:

ESP live in Switzerland by dragonladych

It was selected along with 29 others and now people have to vote for their favourites

It helps if you speak French or German if you want to vote but I think it's pretty easy to understand. The main problem is that you need to register your email to vote, so I'd understand if you didn't want to do that.

If you want to help, and also vote for others, you can go here: www.cooperation-online.ch/arti… Thanks a lot in advance :)

Meanwhile I have a copy of this signed by John Corabi himself so this is just as cool as winning the contest :P

More Steampunk

I have just finished working on some illustrations to go with my Steampunk project. Some of these will be part of a portfolio. Maybe it will even take the shape of an "art-booklet". I need to work out details but if there is an interest it could even be up for sale. So far I plan to make it for Eastercon and to give to publishers.

I have a portrait of Myron S. Drake, to put a face to the mysterious creator of the Antikimena pieces:

And some samples of the use that can be made of these extremely powerful and indispensable objects:

Kiriban

After more than 4 years here on deviantArt I am approaching 10'000 pageviews! It's not much compared to most of you but it's a nice number.

So to celebrate this is will offer a 10$ Gift Certificate for my Esty shop to the person who will catch the 10'000 pageview with a screencap. This can either buy you a print of your choice (if it's not listed just ask me and we can work something out). Or you can use is as a discount on any piece in the shop.

Happy hunting!

New project WIP

A big thank you to all who voted on my threadless submissions.

And I am so happy to finally be able to show you my new project. An exclusive line of steampunk jewelery. Most of them will be unique pieces, but I am trying to find ways to make more affordable pieces too. Stay tuned

All the pieces come with a short "blurb" an extract of the imaginary diaries of an old acquaintance, Myron Salazar Drake. I've crossed his path a few times in the past years. I won't tell more since he likes to keep to himself these days. Until he decides to come out in the sun again, he's lucky that he can still do that!

This is the first piece that I can show you:

Planning ahead

I am once again working on too many ideas. I want to submit another threadless design soon, I already know what. Maybe I'll do that before the holiday but I doubt it. I will be on a holiday in a bit more than a week!

I just today got my membership for the next Eastercon (Odyssey 2010) it will be held at a hotel next to Heathrow airport which is very convenient! I have enough original art for a show, now I need to concentrate on some pieces of jewelery. I wish I had enough time to both sell them on Etsy and have enough for a collection but that will hardly be possible. Still, the pieces that can be reproduced will be sold online also.

Also I've just posted what will be one of the main illustrations this year. My entry for the café salé contest. I've always wanted to draw my favourite Alice Cooper song. The feel of the whole Dada album is, to me, very 20's and gothic at the same time. It took me ages to get that sort of feel into my illustration, but I think I've succeeded. I have one more month to let it rest a bit a see if it needs more work.

And since I am (as most of the time) in an Alice Cooper phase here's some art by some fellow "Sickies" (we fans call ourselves "SickThings")
